Stored-program Servo Controller Shrinks to fit Motor Housing
Full-featured servo controller, non-volatile memory, driver and serial interface add only 8mm to diameter.
7/21/03 -- DIVA shrinks servo controller
A D-shaped bulge, extending the diameter of a 35-mm motor housing by only 8mm now houses the latest model in the SuprMotrTM series of controllers developed by DIVA Automation. Measuring less than 22mm x 100 mm, overall, the SuprStikTM supplies all the features found in DIVA's larger controller packages with the exception of uncommitted I/O channels.
A proven combination of National Semiconductor LM629 servo controller with matching LMD18201, 3A PWM driver provide the low level motor control and trajectory generation functions. DIVA's trademark ease of use is enhanced by provision for non-volatile storage of control parameters and operating program, differential encoder inputs with index search capability, polarized limit switch inputs, multi-drop high speed RS-232 communications and more than 75 commands in an on-board command interpreter.
More than 250 commands may be stored in the EEPROM, with automatic execution on power up and unlimited nesting. A two-digit LED may be connected to terminals supplied for reporting communications address, error codes and status.
Pricing is under USD$200 in production quantities.
